Marion County in Indianapolis has one of the fastest growing human trafficking rates in the country. It is not effecting some people but all people in Marion County. With this being said not only are the prosecutors and the police working to stop it but also local a sorority. The sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha, is working to bring awareness to the citizens.
Alpha Kappa Alpha is making this a new community outreach convention. It is free to the public and brings awareness to the community. Not only will it inform the people, but it will also have on site counselors ready to help victims. This convention displays the investment they have in their own community.
After reading such articles, it makes me feel that human trafficking victims are not alone. As long as people are fighting for prevention, and awareness, we can eradicate the situation. A little teamwork and hard work, anything is possible. End human trafficking one step at a time.
